Hunting Elk and Mountain Lion in New Mexico was a experience that far exceeded any expectations I had due in part to Mark, Melissa, and the guides.  The lodge was second to none and the food was fantastic. The knowledge Mark and the guides had of the animals and land was unbelievable. Everyone I met from meat processor, guides, taxidermist were polite, helpful and experienced in their various fields. I will be back again for sure, went to camp a stranger left a part of a new hunting family.  Thanks for two unbelievable hunts.

I have been hunting elk for about 15 years and have harvested 6 bulls with a bow. I've hunted most western states. By far the best guides I've ever hunted with are Mark and Tim . I've hunted with them twice, and have  killed a 6x6 and a 5x5 . Besides the elk I've killed I've watched  Mark and Tim call in 50 or more bulls . Everyday of my hunt there were opportunities with a bow. That is unbelievable to have multiple chances with a bow  on a four day hunt.  It is also like hunting with a long lost friend, the environment at camp is relaxing, food is the best and Melissa keeps it all running.  I can not recommend them high enough. I will be back as long as they will have me.

This is the second time that I have hunted with Mark, Melissa and Tim.  Needless to say I plan to return for a third time. The hunting was exceptional. The guides place the hunter first and are sensitive to their wants, needs and abilities. I consider them my friends and enjoy spending time and learning from them. Mark and Tim have exceptional elk hunting skills and calling ability.  Opportunities to harvest a large elk were numerous. The meals and accommodations were first rate.  The staff was outstanding and attentive to our every need.  There is every effort made to meet the hunters needs and wants. Thank you for allowing me to share time with you and to experience the beauty of New Mexico.  Lets do it again!

Great people, unbeatable service, access to some of the best elk property in the country, and more action than my last 7 elk hunts combined.  For the first time ever with an outfitter, delivered more than promised, much more.  Was even able to get a fat old man a beautiful elk with a stick bow.

My experience with Blue Creek Outfitters in September 2015 was nothing less than outstanding in every regard.  This family-owned and operated hunting venture is first class in every way.  My elk hunt on private land in Chama, NM, was successful on the evening of the first day of my hunt.  It was my ninth bow hunt for elk in 30 years.  I had been dreaming of killing a bull large enough to make the Pope & Young Club record book ever since my first NM elk hunt in 1985.  I had taken three bulls on previous hunts but none big enough for the record book.

Tim Casias, brother of Blue Creek Outfitters owner Mark Casias, called in a big 6X6 bull from over a half mile away and put me in position to make the shot.  My dream came true after 30 years as we watched the bull go down within about 50 yards.  Even now it still has not fully sunk in that I finally have my P&Y bull.  I was amazed at the variety of calls Tim used and how he could make it seem like we were a herd of elk all by himself.  He is an expert caller.  He is also a great photographer and took lots of pictures of me and my bull.  I have been on hunts where the guide wanted to snap only a few pictures for the outfitter’s web site and didn’t seem to care about my desire for good pictures.  Not Tim, he was very attentive to my desire for good pictures because he understood that for me it was the fulfillment of a longtime dream.  It was obvious that he shared in my happiness and wanted me to have lots of pictures of the event.  Tim took the time to cape and quarter the bull and put the quarters in game bags to keep them clean.  He took great care not to get the meat dirty or contaminated by flies.  We went back the next morning and retrieved everything from where we had left it hanging in a tree the night before.  The meat was in great shape as was the cape and rack.  Tim also recommended a taxidermist and drove with me over 80 miles to take the cape and rack to him.  That is personalized service!

My hunt was on a private ranch so Melissa Casias, Mark’s wife, took care of purchasing my NM license and permit.  This was a nice touch that saved me effort and worry about making a mistake in the process.   I did not get to meet Melissa but she was always very responsive to the frequent emails I sent her.  She is an experienced bow hunter too, which means she understands the needs of their bow hunting clients.

Mark’s sister, Yvette, was the cook in the very nice house that was used as our base during my stay.  Yvette is a great cook and went out of her way to ensure my food was prepared without onions, which I can’t stand to eat.  This was a special effort that I greatly appreciated because in many other hunting camps you eat what they put on the table and many cooks love to put onions in almost everything.  Yvette is likeable and was enjoyable to talk with.  Whoever said having a woman in hunting camp is a jinx didn’t know Yvette!  She was my good luck charm.

Mark, Tim, and Yvette made the entire hunt seem like a group of old friends enjoying time together.  Brian, a hunter from Michigan was also there.  Brian got a good 5X5 bull the morning after I shot mine.  He did it with traditional gear at 15 yards!  His bull was called in by Mark and another guide, Randy.  As I said, these guys know how to call elk and how to get you in position to get a shot when they call them in.  I think it was Brian’s seventh elk hunt and his first bull with a bow.  If you want results and to fulfill a dream, go with Blue Creek Outfitters!  They get it done!  Where have you hunted before when the outfitter wanted you to be so successful that he and another guide went with you to call just for you?  That adds a new dimension to the term two on one hunt.

The house was great.  I had my own room and a very comfortable queen size bed.  The house was spacious and adorned with many excellent taxidermy mounts including mule deer, bears, elk, mountain lion, whitetail deer and even a mountain goat.  The location was quiet and secluded and there was room to shoot my bow at a Block target during the mid-day.

All-in-all, my hunt could not have been scripted any better than it turned out in reality.  I would not hesitate to hunt with them again.  They truly are first class people and they run a first class operation.

We had a great time hunting with y'all. This was the best hunting experience I have had in New Mexico. You provided awesome food at all meals. Great company, hunting advice and tips on scouting and stalking game; technique on field dressing and capping animals. Made us feel right at home with la Raza! Judging from all the videos and what you showed us y'all are professionals. We definitely plan to continue hunting with Blue Creek Outfitters New Mexico.

Mark and Melissa,

I wanted to thank you again for the fantastic elk bowhunt.  As this was our 2nd bowhunt together, it great as usual.  First and foremost, the camaraderie and friendship was superb.  Mark's expertise in the art of elk hunting is unparalleled.  If there are elk present, he can and will call them in.  He truly speaks and understands elk .  He also notes the abilities and limitations of the hunter and will adjust the hunt plans accordingly.  Melissa makes you feel at home and will do everything she can to accommodate  special requests.  The lodging and meals were great.
We will be back again!

I have had the great opportunity to archery elk hunt twice with Mark and Melissa and their outfitting business. I have had 100% success when hunting with them.
Although there are many outfitters in the market there are not any that can provide the experience that they do. Simply put, Mark and his guides are true hunters and experts at their craft. As a bowhunter, I have complete confidence when I book a hunt that they will not only locate the elk, but will put me in a position to make a solid effective shot. Their calling and hunting acumen is second to none and access to highly productive hunting areas certainly increase the ability to harvest an animal.
Mark and his guides work tirelessly to not only provide a productive hunt, but also make sure you are enjoying the whole experience.   It won’t take long to realize that they have a fun loving personality that helps to enhance an already great time. Don’t forget to bring a good joke with you and be ready to have fun.
Melissa is a jewel of a lady and provides top notch meals and hospitality. She also ensures that all the business and paperwork are in order.
If you are looking for a fun, productive hunt with top notch service don’t miss the opportunity to hunt with Blue Creek Outfitters.
